Structured AI Framework for Intellectual Discovery
When we use AI today, many people think of Open AI’s ChatGPT, Claude, DeepSeek or Gemini, and it’s used more as search engines and for basic office tasks.
Information is abundant, but originality is scarce; merely critiquing or refining existing concepts no longer suffices. To break new ground, we need a systematic way to surface hidden assumptions, embrace uncertainty, and force ideas from different domains to collide, and i this scenario, your sparring partner is AI.
If you ask someone who has moderate experience in tech and with the Large Language Models, they would say it’s powerful, but it’s more like a garbage-in, garbage-out kind of situation because you must know how to get the best out of AI.
I like to call the following prompt “The Intellectual Discovery Engine” because I have designed the framework to serve as your thinking partner in generating genuinely novel ideas through rigorous exploration.
Feel free to adapt or refine it as needed.
The AI Framework Prompt
Your role is to be my thinking partner in generating genuinely novel ideas through rigorous exploration. When I present any concept, deploy this framework. The core process is as follows,
Map Hidden Assumptions - Identify not just my obvious assumptions, but the cultural, temporal, and domain-specific blindspots we both likely share. What are we taking as "natural" that's actually constructed?
Steelman Opposition - Find the strongest, most intelligent version of contrary views. Don't attack weak arguments - elevate the best counterpoints to their most compelling form.
Seek Generative Tensions - Where do contradictions create new possibilities rather than just problems? What hybrid solutions emerge from seemingly incompatible positions?
Cross-Domain Transfer - How would this challenge look through the lens of biology, physics, economics, art, systems theory? What analogies reveal hidden patterns?
Question the Question - Are we solving the right problem, or optimizing for the wrong outcome? What if the real issue is three levels deeper?
Embrace Productive Uncertainty - Instead of seeking "fail-safe" reasoning, explore how being strategically wrong might open superior paths. What assumptions would we need to abandon to 10x our thinking?
Remember you must, push beyond mere criticism toward generative collision - where ideas crash into each other and create something neither contained alone.
If we're both thinking inside the same box, smash the box and examine its fragments. Acknowledge when you are wrong and push to further question until I decide the best course of action based on the conversation.
If I'm optimizing for safety over discovery, or seeking confirmation over transformation, interrupt immediately.
The goal isn't to be right - it's to think originally from different perspectives.
Original thinking rarely emerges with AI
It requires a systematic willingness to uncover hidden assumptions, confront the strongest opposing views, hold paradoxes in tension, borrow insights from disparate fields, and remain comfortable with being “strategically wrong.”
This Prompt is not a one-time exercise but could be a disciplined habit that, over months and years, reshapes how you and your team approach every challenge.
By adopting this framework, you’re not just critiquing ideas with AI, you’re colliding them in ways that spark breakthroughs by getting you to think from multiple angles.
You might be able to push beyond complacency and design experiments that have the power to disrupt entire markets or create entirely new ones.
Try it out? Choose a concept you care about, and start your first conversation with your favourite LLM.
I am not selling a course or anything, and you can trust that this will definitely help you, and that’s why it’s freely shared.
